Melo and Ria Ch.1

Melo and Ria ch.1 "An Unwelcoming Beginning"

"Damn…" Ria whispered, falling into the shallow water of the lake. She looked at her scar, dried and starting to fade, that she had gained fighting when she just before she got out of England. When she joined a gang there, their leader wasn't very happy with her wish to go to America.
The scene replayed in her mind. Auston, the name of their leader, sneered at thought until she realized she wasn't joking. "You'll never make it," he said." I mean, I might as well kill you now so you don't die in a horrible way." He took out his pocket knife and jumped to her side."Well, bye, Riz." He mumbled the nick-name he personally gave her trough his teeth, and lunged towards her chest with the knife. Ria closed her eyes and waded in the water.

She didn't remember anything from then on, except that when she woke up she had a still bleeding wound down her arm, and was on a boat in the evening.

"I wonder... What really did happen?"

That night, she began to make a shelter of leaves and twigs by the lake, when she heard a click behind her.

"Stop, girl, or else I kill you right now, with no regret or mercy." A young voice said behind her. Ria stopped, but dared not to ask who was there. She felt the voice turn into a body, grabbing her arm as mumbling the words "follow me". She did as she was told, and quickly glanced at the girl pulling her away.

Her face was carved into a scowl, as well as two scars under her left eye. She also seemed to like darker colors, since almost everything she wore was black. Even her hair was a very dark blue. She was holding a gun in her other hand, which Ria believed was ready and loaded.
As they walked, the girl spoke." Why the hell are you here, girl?" She spat.

"I just got out of England, I think, at least. My gang leader tried to kill me though."

"Well, maybe I could use that.." The other girl told herself. "Say, girl, killed anyone?"

Ria thought." I believe I killed about ten or eleven people." " That sounds okay, I guess. And what's your name?" "Ria." Ria began to shake with fear.

"Ria, is it? The name's Melo."Melo? Ria thought. It was interesting.

"So, girl…or, Ria, I've got another question. Now, I should kill you like everyone else, but I won't. However, you have to help me find my partner, Dyson."
"What happened to him?" Ria stared into Melo's eyes.

"I'm not sure. All I know is that I can't find him, and he's pretty important to me." She turned angrily to Ria." And before you get any ideas, our relationship is only professional."
Ria smiled." I understand. So, what's the plan to finding him?" Melo stared at her for a second, then stopped at her camp. "We can discuss this in the tent." She said, and the two girls crawled into the tent, not knowing how this would affect them in a big way.
